There are several types of massage available at the clinic.
This type of massage treatment uses the “traditional” massage techniques including effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration and tapotements.
The aim of Swedish massage is to offer relaxation and well-being.
Hot Stone Massage
Tina specialises in hot stone massage. The warm stones will be places in strategic points of the body and then will used to massage you and promote maximal relaxation and muscle loosening.
Deep tissue massage
For this type of massage, the therapist will uses more force and get deeper into the muscle. The treatment is generally more localised to a specific area of the body.
Deep tissue massage is very useful alongside physiotherapy to release a particular area of your body by increasing muscle and joint range of movement.
Sports massages can be divided in two categories : pre-event and post-event.
Pre-event sports massage will focus on preparing you for your next sporting event by relaxing your muscle and loosening your joints. They are best done 24H to 48H before your event.
Post-event massages will focus on recovery by reducing pain (DOMS) and fatigue. They will be preferably done within the next 24H following your event.
Remedial/ Therapeutic Massage
Remedial massage uses both Swedish and deep tissue massage alongside stretching techniques and joint mobilisations to increase the range of movements of your joints and muscles. This is the type of massage you would expect of physio to do and will therefore be generally used to help recovery of an injury.
As its name indicates, pregnancy massage is a specialist massage for pregnant ladies to help with general ache and pain caused by the pregnancy. Pregnancy massage works very well alongside the pre and post-natal treatments offered by our Women’s Health specialist, Lyndsey.
