Running Injury Clinic

Headline

Running pain that keeps coming back?

Our Running Injury Clinic is designed for runners struggling with recurrent injuries, persistent pain, or a loss of confidence in their running. Whether your symptoms have been present for weeks, months, or keep returning every time training increases, we help identify the real cause of the problem and create a clear plan to get you moving again.

What Is the Running Injury Clinic?

This is not just a standard physio appointment.

The Running Injury Clinic is a specialist assessment designed to understand:

  • why your injury developed

  • why it is not improving

  • what is driving ongoing irritation or overload

  • how your running mechanics, strength, and training load may be contributing

Our aim is not simply to reduce pain, but to help you return to running with confidence and reduce the risk of recurrence.

What Does the Assessment Include?

1. Full Injury & Training Review

We begin with a detailed discussion about:

  • your injury history

  • training patterns and running volume

  • previous injuries

  • footwear and surfaces

  • recovery habits

  • changes in training load or intensity

This helps us identify potential contributing factors and understand the timeline behind the injury.

2. Full Physiotherapy Assessment

A comprehensive clinical assessment is performed to identify:

  • mobility restrictions

  • strength deficits

  • movement compensations

  • joint limitations

  • muscle imbalance

  • control and stability deficits

This is a detailed one-to-one physiotherapy assessment tailored specifically to runners.

3. Strength Testing

Where appropriate, we use handheld dynamometry to objectively assess muscle strength.

This allows us to:

  • measure side-to-side differences

  • identify specific muscle weakness

  • assess force production

  • monitor progress over time

Objective testing helps guide rehabilitation and provides clear measurable markers throughout recovery.

4. Plyometric & Impact Assessment

We assess how your body manages load during dynamic movements such as:

  • hopping

  • jumping

  • landing

  • single-leg control tasks

This helps identify deficits in:

  • force absorption

  • tendon loading capacity

  • limb control

  • power generation

  • impact tolerance

These tests are particularly important for runners returning from recurrent overload injuries.

5. Running Assessment & Video Analysis

Your running technique is assessed either:

  • on a treadmill within the clinic, or

  • outdoors depending on your goals and the conditions

Using slow-motion video analysis, we assess:

  • running mechanics

  • cadence

  • loading patterns

  • landing strategy

  • limb control

  • movement efficiency

The aim is not to completely change your running style, but to identify movement patterns that may be contributing to excessive stress or inefficient loading.

Following the Assessment

Once the assessment is complete, we explain:

  • what is likely driving the injury

  • why symptoms may not be settling

  • what needs to improve

  • how to safely return to running

You will leave with a clear understanding of your injury and the next steps required.

Your Treatment Options

Option 1 — Self-Management Plan

For simpler or primarily load-related injuries, we may recommend:

  • training modifications

  • recovery guidance

  • strength exercises

  • running advice

  • a structured self-management programme

This option is ideal for runners who need clarity and direction without ongoing treatment.

Option 2 — Physiotherapy Treatment Package

If hands-on treatment and guided rehabilitation are required, we can provide:

  • physiotherapy treatment

  • progressive strength rehabilitation

  • tendon or muscle loading programmes

  • return-to-running progression

  • ongoing reassessment

Treatment is tailored specifically to your goals and injury type.

Option 3 — Long-Term Running Rehab Programme

For more persistent or complex injuries, we offer structured rehabilitation programmes over:

  • 6 weeks

  • 12 weeks

  • 24 weeks

These programmes are designed for runners needing:

  • long-term injury management

  • progressive rebuilding

  • strength and load development

  • return-to-performance guidance

  • ongoing accountability and progression

Who Is This Clinic For?

The Running Injury Clinic is ideal for runners who:

  • keep getting injured

  • cannot increase mileage without pain

  • feel stuck in a cycle of flare-ups

  • are unsure how to return to running

  • want a proper explanation for their symptoms

  • are preparing for an event but struggling with injury

  • want expert guidance rather than generic advice

Our Goal

Our goal is simple:

Help you understand your injury, regain confidence, and return to running stronger and more resilient.

Benji Physio - Post operation treatment and advice
It’s very important to work with people who understand what you went through. Do too much too soon, and you will risk to increase the pain for no good reason. Do too little, you will lengthen your recovery. Having the correct loading strategy at the right time is crucial to your recovery.
